Roy Earl Wilhite, 76, a retired barber, died Saturday in the Ben Hur Nursing Home. He operated Wilhite’s Barber Shop for 51 years. Mr. Wilhite was a member of the First Christian Church, Eagles Lodge, and the Auxiliary Police. He was a charter member and former secretary of Local 79 of the Barbers’ Union. He was born on March 25, 1897 in Montgomery County, the son of David and Susan Payton Wilhite. He married Virginia Mary Van Arsdale on June 30, 1930. She survives. Other survivors include two step sons, Lloyd Tolley of Kokomo, and Lyle O. Tolley of Richardson, Tex.; two step daughters, Mrs. Fern Richardson of Lebanon and Mrs. Fay Yates of Crawfordsville; two sisters, Mrs. Villa Neese of Crawfordsville, and Mrs. Lillie Ethridge of Muncie, 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and five great great-grandchildren. Mr. Wilhite was preceded in death by a son, Wayne Tolley and three brothers. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Hunt and Son Funeral Home. The Rev. Howard Miller will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. today. – jlr
